The “For the Love of Sports” initiative by the Rotaract Club of Achievers Lanka Business School is one of many examples of the club’s innovative approach to community engagement and fundraising. This inaugural quiz night, held at the Al Fresco Garden Café, aimed to tap into the pub quiz and trivia community while serving as a fundraiser. The project was conceptualized to become a monthly tradition, providing a platform for sports enthusiasts to showcase their knowledge and enjoy a competitive yet fun atmosphere.

The event’s execution was meticulous, with Rtr. Rahul Jeyanthan appointed as the Quiz Master. Promotion efforts on social media ensured a good turnout, with six teams registering for the event. Each team, comprising 3-5 members, paid an entry fee and received a discount on their café purchases. The quiz night featured eight rounds of challenging sports-related questions, fostering a spirit of healthy competition among participants. The top teams, Pie Chuckers and Team Invictus, were recognised, with an award ceremony planned for future quiz nights.

Objectives of the project included raising funds for the club, attracting Rotaractors to participate in quizzes to improve their general knowledge, and establishing a unique, theme-based quiz tradition. The project planning involved careful coordination, and active participation from club members, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable event. “For the Love of Sports” not only succeeded in its immediate goals but also set the stage for ongoing engagement and community building within the Rotaract Club.
